DC Does TX Spotlight - Vandaveer

XM Cafe has called Mark Charles Heidinger "this generation's Nick Drake" and The Washington Post has called him "a world-weary wayfaring minstrel with shoe-leather vocal cords and breathy Dylanesque folk tunes rife with imagery cribbed from Testaments both Old and New." Sounds about right to us. Vandaveer's darkest moments will haunt your dreams and his brighter moments will gracefully combine young and old for a sound full of nostalgia and ennui.

Check out a free download that NPR made available as part of their Austin 100 .

Also, check out the interview that Mark did with Spinner here.

Join our Facebook Page

Hey everyone! DC Does TX now has a Facebook event page. It is not at all necessary to RSVP for this show...but saying that you're attending means that you'll get all kinds of sweet up to date information from the organizers. So, come join! We'll feel special and so will you.

Sadly, we don't have a Twitter account, but Valerie's (@vivalaphoenix) has become the de facto place for DC Does TX information.

DC Does TX 2010 Official Details!

Thanks for all of you who came to our show at The Austin Grill in Friday night...and to all of the bands that played. We had a lot of fun and now we can make it down to Austin without breaking our banks.

Now, for what you really want to know: the lineup for this year's DC Does TX. It's a good one.

12pm - Vandaveer
12:45pm - Pree
2:15pm - Title Tracks
3:00pm - Le Loup
3:45pm - U.S. Royalty

This year the festivities will be at Lovejoy's at 604 Neches Street. We stopped by there a few times over the past two years and are very excited to be able to perform there.

But in case that sweet lineup wasn't enough to get you out there...how does free Dogfish Head sound? Yeah, sounds pretty good to us, too. Keep checking back. We'll keep bringing you news and information.

With a band name like These United States, you know you are in for some jangly, country-twinged, pure blooded, down home music. Whether you've seen TUS as a solo performance by primary songwriter, Jesse Elliott, or with the full band, you know they are the real deal. The band's debut album, "A Picture of the Three of Us at the Garden of Eden," is out today!
